Join Us
Whether you are a complete newbie or already experienced in your craft we would love to meet you - as a guest at one of our meetings, or as a new member.
Seeing the guild in action
You can see some of our members in action at demonstration events around the local community. We also have an Open Meeting and Exhibition with Sale of Work during the year. At most other meetings we also welcome guests. Please let us know by email in advance when you might want to visit and tell us something about your areas of interest.Joining the guild
Some join the guild as a newcomer to our crafts (we can often arrange for equipment loans to get you started). Others want to expand or deepen their understanding of spinning, weaving, dyeing or allied crafts. Our educational programme aims to support this objective and we also have a guild library containing suitable books and magazines for members to borrow. The informal nature of the meeting facilitates opportunities to get to know other people who share the same interests in spinning, dyeing, weaving, knitting ... and lots of other fibre-related crafts. There is a wealth of experience within the guild, including some members with several decades of relevant crafts knowledge to draw on.
Joining the guild links members not only to the Stratford Guild but also to the wider community of local, national (and international) Guilds, through the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers (AGWSD). AGWSD organises national exhibitions and summer schools and offers support to achieve a Certificate of Achievement in your craft.
