MARCH GUILD MEETING - Freeform Crochet - Saturday 20th March
FREEFORM CROCHET WITH ABBY
So come along and see what we are doing and maybe even find a crochet hook and join in.
What you will need for the event.
You will want to have crochet hooks and various types of yarn, thick and thin
but it doesn't matter what weight.
Heavier yarns might show the effects more than lighter weights. It might be easier to see on the screen while zooming though.
What you may want to do before the event.
If you have never done crochet before you can get some practice with the basics
before the meeting so you can join in. Look at https://www.learn2knit.co.uk/crochet/basic-stitches.php.
Look for any of the online tutorials that show you how to create a simple motif
(you can search on How To videos to find out) but be aware that a US double
crochet is not the same as a UK one (the terms are used differently).
If you already have crochet skills look out for any extra interesting stitches that
you might like to go wild with. Remember that motifs need not be square or circles, or granny square for example:
a spiral: https://www.craftsy.com/post/spiral-crochet/
a diamond: https://www.craftsy.com/post/crochet-diamond/
As it's free-form crochet there aren't any hard and fast rules, as you know. Perfect!
We shall follow our usual format – screens open at 10.20, the meeting will start when we are all logged in by approximately 10.30, Anna will give out any notes and Abby will start showing her samples and ideas and techniques about 10.50.
By around 12.15 we shall need a coffee break and after that there will be a Show and Tell session and a chance to ask advice, etc. The meeting usually ends about 1.30, but can go on longer if members are still chatting.
Our monthly meetings are free to all Full Members of the Stratford Upon Avon Guild. Stratford Online members and visitors are welcome to join us and we just ask for our usual meeting fee of £5. Contact us on wsdstratford@gmail.com if you are interested to joins us at any time.
