OCTOBER MEETING - STRATWEAVE - THE RECKONING!

 OCTOBER MEETING  STRATWEAVE

- THE RECKONING!

Our Challenge month

Before the details of the next meeting this month we wanted to give a BIG Congratulations to Jane Lucas who raised £230 at her MacMillan coffee morning this year.  Another great fundraiser Jane!
This time last year, feeling saddened and disappointed that the annual Britspin would not be happening we decided to develop our own spinning challenges for the month, not quite as competitive and no points counting and we ran StratSpin!  We enjoyed challenging ourselves and seeing the outcome from the members.  So .....  this year we have evolved to the next skill and October is our month for StratWeave - the reckoning!   We felt that now there are so many interested in weaving this year we should have challenge ourselves with this skill.

It will start with the regular monthly meeting on Saturday 15th October, in the Methodist Hall, and on Zoom, with two follow-up Zoom meetings on Monday, 17th 7.30 – 9.30 pm and Thursday 20th from 7.00 to 9.00 pm. Sara will send out the Zoom links nearer the time.
The main purpose is to extend our weaving skills and enjoy the ease which comes with practice, giving us the chance to explore some variations on the basic designs.  So NEW techniques, NEW tools, NEW patterns, NEW colour variations, NEW yarns, we want the serious and the fun and plenty of stash busting with this!

Then we can have a final Show and Tell about our results during the January meeting.

The timing for the Saturday meeting will be as usual. For this meeting please enter the building via the front door and not the usual side one. Our meeting is in the New Room so press that button. Doors open 10.15 am, screens for Zoom 10.20 am. the meeting will start at 10.30 am with notices. We finish at 3.00 pm.
Although covid restrictions have been relaxed you may wish to continue to take precautions. Coffee and Tea supplies will be provided (plus Cake/Biscuits ?) but you may wish to bring your own mug, lunch, plate and cutlery, plus a teatowel – we can use the kitchen. Please wear a mask if you wish.

If you are a spinner, or simply want to see what others are doing, you are, of course, expected– who knows, you might be tempted to try weaving after all !  If you wish to hire some guild equipment please ask in advance by completing this form https://wsdstratford-members.blogspot.com/p/equipment-for-hire.html.  See the list on the members section of this website.  You may find a notebook and coloured crayons useful. Squared paper is useful for drafting patterns.

There will be the usual Sales Table. This is not just for equipment – Autumn is a great time for pickles and jams , but remember there is said to be a glut of apples, so don't get too hopeful. Please price your items to include 10% for guild funds and make a list of what you have brought, showing prices. Sales contributions add up over the year and are a good way of helping to keep our subscriptions low.
 See you there!
