DECEMBER CHRISTMAS MEETING - Saturday 12th December
DECEMBER CHRISTMAS 'PAAARTY' MEETING
Can you believe we are that time of year?
It is our Christmas Party Meeting this Saturday and the
goody bag should be with you (or very shortly!)
There is a litte preparation required so do check the good bag,
newsletter and below for instructions!!!!!
The Christmas Party Zoom screen will open at 10.20 am and we hope everyone will have joined us ready to start proceedings at 10.30 am.
As usual there will be official notices and a chance to “show and tell” us what you have been making , ask advice if you have met problems, and generally share news, before we start on making our trees by 10.50 am.
Preparations
1. DRINKS/FOOD - For our normal Christmas meeting we have a shared meal, when everyone brings a plate of food. When we first started we used to supply wine but as almost everyone drove to meetings and we all became more conscious of the problems of drink and drive, Ann started to make a mulled fruit cup instead. This was generally enjoyed with most people coming back for a second glass.
Use grape juice, orange juice and apple juice in roughly equal proportions, heated up with suitable
spices – nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, added . Some recipes which add sugar but never put any in Ann's. To make it look pretty in the big bowl served it with floated slices of apple and orange which had been heated and cooked through in the mixture.
2.WORKSHOP - all the items for our workshops are included in the goodybag, EXCEPT for a cardboard disk to assist with the Christmas Tree. We don't need it big as your hands need to reach round easily - so just a 10 cm diameter circle of stiff card with about 16/17 slots cut around it to anchor your wire and a hole in the centre abuot 1.5 cm diameter.
Our Zoom meetings usually finish by around 1.00 pm so I expect we shall only be eating mince pies, stollen, and lebkuchen with our Spiced Cup, maybe with a small pig in a blanket for the omnivores.
BREAKING NEWS - . Before our AGM on Saturday, January 16th 2021, we shall have an illustrated Zoom Talk by Esther Rutter, the author of This Golden Fleece the book which Sue recommended to us in the summer. Details will be in the January Newsletter but be sure to keep the date free and be able to log in before 10.30 am on that day.
See you all on Saturday
