10.30 -12.00 Getting Better at: An intro to some online tools and resources for spinning, weaving and dyeing

Chris will be sharing some of the online resources she likes - from a sampling of videos within Craftsy/Bluprint on spinning and weaving, and the Jane Stafford online guild courses she raves about, to colour matching, braid and plaid designing tools. She will also show you some of the tricks she uses on Ravlery. If you have some resources you would particularly recommend come along and talk about these. Questions welcome.

2.00 - 3.30  Part 2 of Shaun Smith's exposition on the history of British sheep and fleece.

In Part 2 (Oct 2018 meeting) Shaun gave us a very interesting overview of primitive sheep breeds in the UK and their history. In part 2 he will take us from Roman through to Georgian times (covering the early development of down types and a longwool introduction).

For those unfamiliar with Shaun, he is the Chair of the Portland Sheep Breeders Group, owner of Harcourt Rare Breeds http://www.harcourtrarebreeds.co.uk/ and organises and helps run rare breed fleece sales across the country.

We are waiting to hear whether Shaun will be bringing along some raw fleece for sale. He may not, so if you are interested in buying any - and have specific requests - please contact Shaun. His contact information is on the Harcourt page.
