NEXT MEETING THIS SATURDAY 15th JUNE - NATURAL DYEING

Natural Dyeing: Achieving the full spectrum, talk by Liz McCarron-Heal

Liz McCarron-Heal's tumble down into the natural dye 'rabbit hole' was enabled by a packet of Japanese Indigo seeds passed to her at Wiltshire Guild. She still remembers the thrill of her first indigo vat, and from then embarked upon another learning adventure, embracing tangents such as amateur mycology in order to experiment with dye mushrooms. Her washing line is now a permanent homage to light fastness tests.

In her talk to the guild on Saturday 15th June (11-12.30) she will show us many examples and encourages guild members to bring along examples of their own.

Liz is the current spinning teacher at Wiltshire Guild and one of her loves is spinning flax. She will bring some flax and her wheel to spin with in the afternoon. Guild member Chris Pegler, who met Liz at the 2018 Certificate of Achievement accreditation, emphasises that Liz's flax spinning is simply superb.

Liz will also bring some of her Certificate of Achievement work including her marvellous project cape (pictured). Altogether a very colourful day!

Our meeting will open as usual at the Methodist Church, with doors open from 10 am.
