SATURDAY 19 MAY 2018 TAPESTRY WEAVING - A talk by Ann Howells and Rosalind Lobb
This Saturday's Birthday meeting of the Guild will commence with a talk by Ann Howells and Rosalind Lobb about Tapestry Weaving. The talk will include information about:
‘Reflections’
tapestry woven for the 25th anniversary of Stratford Guild of
Weavers, Spinners and Dyers;
The idea
for weaving a communal tapestry for the Shipston-on-Stour Wool Fayre, near Barcheston
where the Sheldon map of Warwickshire, in Warwick Museum, was woven and the start of
new Shipston woven tapestry;
Setting
up a resources room to demonstrate
tapestry weaving for the Dovecot exhibition
at Compton Verney;
and the Invitation
to weave at Packwood House as the National Trust needed funds to clean faded
tapestries in their collection.
We will also be having a bit of a fashion show of scarves the members have made - so bring them all along and practice the walk ladies!
The day will commence as usual with arrival at 10.00 am for a 10.30 am start. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
