GETTING BETTER AT ... with Clare Howard on Saturday 28th April 2018

Free Expression and Rigid Heddle Weaving

In this interactive 'Getting Better At' session Clare will share her approach to Free Play on a rigid heddle loom and beyond............... and we’ll all be able to have a go ... both on and off a loom.

Those of you who have seen Clare's work will know how exciting her textures and colours can be as shown here in the photographs.

To bring with you if you can:
Rigid Heddle Loom: If you have a rigid heddle loom of any type that’s between projects, please bring it along warped up. Don’t worry about epi, wpi, sett or colour matching. The warp can be anything that goes through the slots and holes, is strong enough not to snap, not too sticky, and that won’t abrade too much. We’ll also have some of the guild looms available.

Scrap Bag: it would be great to share a variety of ‘stuff’ to play with (and perhaps do some swops for taking home), scraps of coloured roving, locks, ribbon and tape, warp waste ends, novelty yarns, charity shop finds, art yarns and scraps and strips of fabric, lace is good too.

Stuffing: for the ‘off the loom’ activity we’ll need stuffing: some of that unspinnable mystery fleece you were gifted, scrag
ends of fleece, old woolen jumpers etc. Stuffing fleece needs to be clean, but doesn’t need any preparation.

Looking forward to playing together.
