Great timing means that the first Open Day that we have had in many years is occurring on Worldwide Spin in Public Day (WSIP). So this is an opportunity to take our spinning outside too (weather permitting). Please come and visit us at our usual meeting place (Stratford-upon-Avon Methodist Church Hall, Old Town, CV37 6BG) from 12.00-3.30 for an immersive and fun afternoon learning about our crafts.

We have been planning this event for months so can offer lots of delights to interest and educate  visitors. There will be displays and demonstrations of our core crafts of weaving (including tapestry), spinning (all sorts of fibres) and dyeing (both natural and synthetic) and as well as a special exhibition of items made from Wensleydale fleece, a rare breed of native longwool sheep.

We will have a sales table with items related to our crafts and/or made by members of our guild. There will be light refreshments and a raffle. If you have been thinking about joining the guild this is an excellent time to visit and see at one time the scope of activity we normally engage in.

Given the coincidence of occurring on the WSIP day we expect to have a wider than usual range of spinners, wheels and spinnable fibres on show, alongside the weaving and dyeing exhibits.

If you are a spinner and would like to come and spin with us that afternoon you will be most welcome, but please let us know beforehand by email so we can offer advice on parking etc.

Special Flyer (please publicise our event to your crafts group/guild)

We have a special A5 flyer which you can download to circulate around your crafts group or guild. You can download  a printable copy here.

Remember that guild members will also have a meeting on the 1st September at Abby's house (an 'at home' meeting) where in addition to after-Summer catch up and regular projects we will plan the final touches to the open afternoon event, including meeting the lovely sheep sign made for the event by Diane, Bev and Sue W (from Ermatrude's fleece)!
